HSBC Women Golf Championship 2014

Date:  Feb 28, 2014

This is the first time I watch a professional golf competition.

Thanks to my friend who gave me this two tickets/card.

IMG 0533

The Champions Club is located on location #9 and it overseeing both the 9th green and 18 green.  Quite cool, but it is far.

I think you need to bring your Superzoom to take better photos.  HaHa… But food and drinks is ok.

IMG 0724

I parked my car at Vivocity and walk across the road to the bus interchange to take the free shuttle to the Sentosa GCC.  Every 20 minutes there is a bus.
The first bus of the day is 8:20am.  But the tee off time for the first flight is 8:24.  So, by the time I reached Sentosa, the first flight already started.

IMG 0728

Seeing the pros tee off, and hitting the shots is good.

As you can learn a lot from these pros.

They made every shots so easy.

IMG 0730

I played at Sentosa a couple of times.  The scenes are really nice.

IMG 0732

Sky Neal is the pro coach in Sentosa GCC.  I still adhoc learning from him.

Oh, he is giving an interview.

IMG 0733

This is the hole 17 of St Andrews course.  I managed to hit 1 ball out of 3 up.

There are a few people in front of me, all of them cannot even get a ball up.  So, I am so happy.  Wahahaha.

IMG 0736

One of the player is in trouble.  So, she waited there.

Then, the course umpire came.  And they were discussions how to solve this problem.

Irene Coe (US) hit her second shots near to the green, but the advertising signage is blocking her way to chip into the green.

IMG 0738

So, after rounds of discussions, she moved the ball from the 2nd signage to the first signage on the left and with one driver length, she moved the ball there.

?????

I cannot understand why the umpire give this instruction.  Well, other players did not complaint.  So, the game move on.

This is the first time I see this in real actions.  Most of the time are from TV.

IMG 0739

I think all pros eat bananas.  I see 7 different pros eat bananas.  I guess they are hungry.

Every tee off box there is a water cooler with mineral water in there.  Some of the pro drink those.

Later on, I followed this Thai young lady and walk 9 holes with her.

IMG 0740

Remember this photo I took few months back when I was playing at Panya Indra in Bangkok, that’s her playing.

Pornanong Phatlum.

NewImage

I am probably the only spectator following Phatlum.

Of course not far from here, you see so many spectators following that group.

Michelle Wie is in that group.  Wahahaha

IMG 0744

She is not a bad player.  But those US players are really better.

IMG 0746

Here is one of her swing.

And who say cannot take picture?  Wahahahaha

I have fun.  I enjoyed it.

I walk a lot.

Almost 10KM on the course.  Cool!

Junior Golf - Monthly Competition on Chip & Putts

Date:  Feb 23, 2014

Today, Jay Jay practise chip & putts.  Let’s look at how he chip in the ball into this hole.

Today is the monthly competition day.  Today competition is on chipping & putting.

It is a hot day, but it’s OK la.

IMG 0580

Higher class students are competing on the long challenging putts.

IMG 0586

Coach teaching Jay Jay on aiming, and swinging the clubs to do a correct chip.

IMG 0588

During the practise round, he corrected a lot of bad habits.  Wow! Nearly went inside the red circle.

OK.  After few rounds of practise.  The competition begins.  The coach are not giving any tips to the students and the students will have to do the chip & putts all by themselves.  He chip from where I stand to there, and then start his putting.

IMG 0605

And 1 chip and 2 putts, he sinked the hole in 3.  Well done Jay Jay!

OK.  Here’s the result.  Jay won the boy’s competition.

IMG 0622

After the competition, more practise, and more corrections.  So, he slowly improve his swings, his understanding of golf.

After the class, since there are no buddy using the green, me and Jay Jay spent another 1 hour there just to do more practise on chipping and putting.  I also teach him what I know about chipping and putting.  And we went thru different slopes, and see how the ball being chip and run.

IMG 0634

We tried shop chip and long chip too.

Not too bad.

So, from now on, every Sunday, after his golf class, I have decided to stay back for one more hour just to practise more on the golf.  So to let him had more time to hit more balls on the real green.  Hopefully this will help him to be more familiarise with the game and slowly build his mental on the games.

IMG 0608

The little girl (not little actually) saw Jay Jay put both pitching wedge and putter behind his back...

IMG 0582

She also tries to put both her clubs behind.  Cool!

Calligraphy Brush With Ink

Date:  Feb 23, 2014

=====--

Updates:

I ask Jay Jay to do the 听写 using this pen… and it is much much nicer calligraphy… wahahaha

IMG 0654

Much nicer…. indeed.  Even Jay also says it is much easier to write the 勾 & 撇.

IMG 0649

=====— Feb 23, 2014 4:22pm

That day, while shopping at Kinokunia book store, I found these.

IMG 0551

Very elegant calligraphy brush for Chinese Calligraphy.

IMG 0563

Made in Japan.  From Kyoto culture.

IMG 0567

It has ink inside.  So, you no need to use additional ink.  It is good for Children so that why do not make a mess when they do calligraphy.

IMG 0566

It also comes with very nice colours and pattern.

IMG 0552

OK.  It is a bit pricy thou… It cost almost $10.

IMG 0565

Now, this is the calligraphy pen that you can buy from popular book stores.  These calligraphy pen cost $1.85 (less than $2)

IMG 0560

But the difference is there...

These 古都 Chinese Calligraphy Pen/Brush is very soft.  Unlike those that you get from Popular, which is stiff, and you cannot “bend” so much when you do a stroke.

IMG 0553

This one, you can clearly stroke without a lot of efforts.  Means, you do not need to press so hard to produce a stroke, 撇,弯,勾,捺.

IMG 0554

It really gives a feeling of Chinese Calligraphy using real ink.  Japanese really good in inventing these kind of things.

IMG 0557

Let’s try it.  See, what I meant?  no need to hold it too stiff, and the ink will come out, and the strokes will come out very nicely.

Need to let me wife use, so that she can appreciate it, and justify why need to buy.  Whaahahahahahahahaha

Next, will be seeing how Jay Jay handling this.  Till then.

Lego Movies & Mini Figures

Date:  Feb 20, 2014

Who says Lego Movie is for kids?

I think most of the human beings on earth grew up with Legos.  So, this movie is a block buster because it is for kids, for grown ups, for men, for women, for old people, for boys and for girls.

NewImage

So, when it comes to mini figures collection, it is for every one too.

Daddy will always says its for their sons or daughters.  But go figure out.  Muahahahaha.

NewImage

The mission is to collect these 16 figures.

NewImage

Each packet is S$4.95.

IMG 0504

That day I was curious why there are so many Lego fans touching the packets at the Lego stores.  Toy Hunts, Secret Chambers, Toy Market, etc etc.

IMG 0495

You can buy packets by packets and try out your luck.  If your luck is bad, may be you buy 100 packets still cannot get a full set.

IMG 0496

So, I can understand why the buyers are standing beside the box and touch it and try to figure out which mini figures are in the packet.

So, today, while Jay Jay is learning his Taekwondo, I dropped by the Toy Market shop at the Marina Square there.

There are no customers at that time, so, I take my own sweet time to touch it.

The kind sales girl also help out.  She felt so excited helping me.

“There there… this one is the Panda…."

“Oh, I found the cat… I think this has to be the cat”.

IMG 0494

So, I end up buying my last trench of Lego Movie’s mini figures pack.

My missing 6 mini figures should be inside this plastic bag.

Let’s cross my finger.

IMG 0493

Finally, I got all 16 of them.  (Oh… the last black color robot figure is actually from a book I bought for Jay Jay, not the one from the mini figures series).

IMG 0499

So, I bought 38 packets and I got the full set.  That’s not too bad, given that the first 3 times, I did not touch the packets and any how just pick.  Tikam like that… wahahaha

IMG 0497

To save money, you really need to learn how to touch the packet and figure out what mini figure is that.

Jay Jay grew up with lots of his Lego toys.  Kay Kay also start to appreciate Duplo.

IMG 0502

So this is my first set of Duplo that I bought for Kay Kay.  He has been nagging me for longest time.  Since the sales girl help me to find the last 6 pieces for the full Lego Movie set, I bought the Disney Planes set from her.  Kay Kay will love it.

IMG 0516

And indeed.  He loves it!

IMG 0507

Let’s race kor kor...

IMG 0509

For whole night, they run around the home with the two duplo planes.

IMG 0514

And my bed becomes their airport.

IMG 0519

This is my first set of minifigures collection and it should be my very last one gua...

Oh ya… She also told me that...

#1 the robot girl with the long rifle gun,

#6 the long hair girl with a cat,

#11 the robot girl with the clipboard &

#16 the mermaid is the hardest to find because it has only 2 packets of each mini figures in a box of 60 packets.

She told me that it will worth lots of money too next time..  on eBay…

Wow…

IMG 0503

Already couple of friends wanted to exchange or buy some of the extra one I have.  Wahaha

IMG 0506

But out of all this figures, one of the one that I wanted the most is

BENNY!  The astronaut.  SPACESHIP.  BUILD SPACESHIP.
