Date:  Feb 7, 2012

Today got the craving for Bones Marrow.  Let's cook it.

Wait, what exactly is bones marrow again?  In Malay, it is called TULANG.  They have their own way of cooking it, so for me, I cook it the simplest way.  原汁原味!

It is very hard to find.  When it is available, a lot of people would have bought it home.  So, you simply have to keep looking.  It is very rare to find it in Cold Storage.  So, you have to try Culina, or Hubert Butchery.  In today case, I happened to buy this from Culina.

As for the ingredients, very simple.  Butter, Olive Oil, Salt and Black Pepper. That's it!  I used the Thym olive oil so that it gives some Thym hint.  You buy this from Little Provence @ Tanglin Mall or Raffles City or Farmer's Market.

As for the butter, I used French unsalted butter.  You can get this from Shermay Cooking school opposite Holland Village there.

Step 1.  Cut a slice of butter.

Step 2.  Put some salt on it.  OK.  You have to make sure that the marrows are placed facing up.  Otherwise, you may accidentally put the bones facing up and the taste cannot melt into the marrows.

Step 3.  And then, you put some black pepper on top of it.

Step 4.  Put some olive oil on top of it.

Step 5.  Pre-heat the oven 250 degrees.

Step 6.  Place the Bone Marrows and cook for 10-15 min depending on the size of the Bones Marrow.

The whole process of preparing and seasoning should not take more than  3 minutes.  :) It is a very fast dish.  And a very addictive one too.  My son ate two and ask for more.  After 10 min... The bones marrow is done.  You can ask your "helper" to take out the bones.  :)

See... My son is waiting for it.  He knows what food is delicious.

Of course, I have a light lemony white wine to cut the fat in the Marrows.

Are you ready to see this?  This is what you want to eat, and the olive oil, salt and black pepper and the butter are all blended into the marrows.  You can see the pink color of the marrow.  Very tasty, and very smooth.

Here is another piece of marrow.  Looks like a monkey brain.  But it is very tasty.

My family loves to eat it a lot.
