Google Reader & RSS

A friend asked me yesterday, how do you read news on your PC or Tablet?

So, I told him, I got all my news from Google Reader.


Back in the old days, we used Gopher or UseNet News.  Then, come along RSS.  RSS stands for Rich Site Summary.  

This is how the google reader looks like..

Almost all the content website has a RSS feeds.  This is like a short summary of the news or anything interesting from the website or blog site.

For example, you go to Zao Bao web site, and then, you will see in the top menu, you will see this "热点 译名 新南洋 RSS“

Move your mouse on to the word "RSS" and click it.  You get this page.

 These links (on the right columns) are the RSS feed links.  This is where you subscribed the RSS feeds into the Google Feeder.  For example, I want to see the 新加坡新闻 so, I select the RSS Feed URL http://www.zaobao.com/sp/sp.xml.  (Copy it)


Then, you go to your Google Reader.  Click on the RED "SUBSCRIBE" button on the top left corner.

Once you subscribed it, it will show it on your list. (last one) and the news associate to this RSS feeds will be displayed on your right hand panel.

Another example is my MiniLiew Blog.  There is a small little link called "Subscribe to", once you click it and select "Add to Google"

So, immediately, it ask you what you want to do.  So, you simply select "Add to Google Reader".  That's it.

And after you done so, the "Mini Liew" blog immediately send the RSS feeds to Google Reader.

And once you get this Google Reader setup, it is very easy to use it on your FLIPBOARD.

The photos and articles and all sort of contents are placed nicely together.  You can add Google Reader RSS Feeds onto your Flipboard too.

Art Boot Camp Diary

Date:  Oct 30, 2012

This week, again, we "steal" one credit from Kay Kay and let Jay Jay attend the Art Boot Camp class.  For 1 hour and 15 minutes, the two brothers are having lots of fun and chit chatting with the teacher.

This week topic is Halloween week.  So, you get to draw the pumpkin, moon, scary tree, and so on.

Next week, I think we will resume the violin class at 10:15am.  So, we have to wait until Mr. Leong take a day off before we can let Jay Jay attend the Art Boot Camp again.  :)

TRA Detox Diary - Day 7

Date:  Oct 30, 2012

Wake up at 6am today.  Make the breakfast.

Day 7:  Breakfast.  Egg white, Green Apple, Cherry Tomato, and a bowl of corn flakes.

The usual cycling routine after the breakfast, is to build up my muscle.  Converting those protein into muscle.  This is the 7 consecutive day of 20KM/day cycling.

Day 7:  Lunch Time.  Have a meeting with a business partner.  Went to East Point.  And look around, and decided to eat Japanese on the safe side.  I ate all the fish, prawns and eggs for protein.  I ate the fried veggietable.  I ate a little of rice and noodles for the carbo.  I ate an apple after my meal.  Of course, there is a green tea ice cream.  But I parked my car very far away and I need to walk about 10-15 minutes to reach office.  It is a workout ya.

Day 7:  Night.  My domestic helper cooked a veggie soup for me with 2 small pieces of beef shank.  I love me pear.

As I am drinking Trim Shake for the protein and carbo.  I looked at this fish, I tell myself that it won't hurt to eat few small pieces of the fish meat.  So, I did, ate 4 pieces of fish meat.  It was delicious.

That concludes my Day 7.  Tomorrow is the first TRA class. The class suppose to teach you how to eat.

So far is so good.  My body weight has been controlled and going down.  It has been a quite successful first week where my weight has dropped from the official 89.9KG (unofficial 92KG) to 86.9KG.  Of course you do not expect it to go down 3KG per week as that will require more exercises to burn all the energies.  But I do feel the waist has straighten a bit, and the tummy has flatten a bit.  83 days to go.

Flying Jay & His Last Year @ LWPS

Our Jay Jay is 6 years old.  We sent him to Lorna Whiston Pre-school since 18 months.  And now, he is almost completing his K2.  And by the time you blink your eyes again, he already gone into Primary 1.  That is fast.

This is what he wrote.  "When I grow up, I want to be an Apple product seller.  I want to sell iPhone and iPad."  HaHaHaHaHa… The kids love Apple product so much.
