In Car Entertainment System

Date: Feb 8, 2013

Today we are driving back to Setiawan for CNY celebration. A long 7-8 hours drive. So we need in-car entertainment system.

Especially during a traffic jam.

So, I bought these two iPad holder for the back seat.

Pretty easy to snap on to the back seat.

Kay Kay pretty happy about this!
He is watching his favorite Thomas and Friends.

Of course, One of them need to use a headset.

As for Jay Jay, I loaded 3 seasons of How it's made for him.

Wow... I am glad that I thought of doing so.

Exploring the last Unknown Railroad

Date: Dec 31, 2012

My bicycle front wheel punctured. So I will be doing my last walk for the year.

As I need to catch the kids who is on the bicycle. I decided to explore short cut!

And I finally caught up to them. And WOW!

I didn't know there is an old train track here. I always cycle pass this small little hill under the bridge. But never came up here before.

Jay Jay: "Papa, you mean you don't know there is a train track here?!"

This is the bridge and MRT track above. It is on top of this Ulu Pandan River. (Yes! It's a river!)

There is this small road going up this slope.

When you go up, the old railway is there...

Look left is a small short stretch of railway.

Look right is going into bushes.

Walk up... You will reach...

Commonwealth Ave. Just opposite the fire station and the temple. Before Jalan Lempeng Nan Hua Primary School turning.

My kids love to come here and play. They love trains, and therefore they love train tracks!

Now with the improved bike, he rode much faster now. Even going short cut also cannot catch up him liao.

Sea Trek @ Cebu

Date:  Sep 7, 2012

Time:  9:15AM

Shuttle to Airport:  10:30AM

So, I have about 1 hour to do something that I wanted to do.  My friend Rose, done it in Bali and I think it is fun.  And they offer this in the Shangri-La Sea Sport Centre.

P1000809

I had never dive before.  The excuse is I am wearing glasses, and I don't like the feeling of seeing things blur.  The real reason is I always think that water will kill me. HaHaHaHa

So, welcome to the Sea Trek (sounds like Star Trek).

P1000796

That is where I am going to walk at the sea bed below that Sea Trek boat.  Lots of cloud, but it should be clear enough.

P1000784

I am going to wear this helmet.  It weight about 40KG each.  Wow… 40KG.

P1000794

Let's meet the staff who is going thru the explanation of how it works.

P1000800

This is the helmet guide.  Who is going to go down with me into the water.

P1000801

This is the diving instructor.  He too… kepo, wanted to dive down too.  And he is a lot of action one.  But his underwater camera skill is good!

P1000802

Oh ya… when you do this kind of sport don't forget to bring your underwater camera along.  I had to borrow my son's camera.

Me:  "Jay Jay, papa borrow your camera, ok?"

Jay:  "But papa, I need to use the camera during Teacher's day."

Me:  "Nope, I am bringing it to Cebu."

Jay:  "Why?"

Me:  "Because I am your father.  Wahahahahahahaha"

NewImage

Instructor explained why need to equalise the pressure.

P1000803

Going thru all sort of safety tips.  Hand signal.  Aiya, once you are in there, all you can do is smiling, and any how give hand signal.

P1000804

Here is another look of the 40G underwater helmet.  It tied to the tube and get the air from the oxygen tank.  It is 51% oxygen and 49% nitrogen.

P1000805

And yipee!  I am down in the water.  Hey look, fish!

P1000808

See!  I am wearing my glasses underwater.  And I have my hair nicely combed.

Oh ya… Just in case, please check your watch, how deep they can go, before you really go down the sea.  :)

And I have to use my hand to hold the helmet, as it tries to float up.

P1000810

Wow… Lot's of fish.

P1000812

Hey, it's Nemo.

P1000819

Great shot.  Nemo hiding.

P1000820

They said, it's like Moon Walking.  Not easy.  Because, I think I am too light.  Every step, I need to force my leg to touch the ground.  and Hey, where is that 40KG thingy again?  It is like 1KG weight in the water.

P1000825

Oh… That's Nemo again.

P1000834

More fishes.

P1000835

Is that Dory?

P1000840

Opps!  I forgot that he can take video of me.  So, I used my complicated hand language to ask him to take a video.  See below.  Wow… I was fun!

Then, they asked me to sit on the turtle.

P1000842

This is definitely not Space Walking.  He himself need to walk like using a lot of efforts.

P1000847

From time to time, water can come into your helmet, simply lift the helmet a bit up, and the water will just cleared away.

This is the air ventilation at the back of the helmet.

P1000848

It's fun!  Today, no fish biting me.

P1000850

OK!  It's time to go up.  Bye Nemo, bye Dory.

P1000855

And we are back up into the boat.  It was a very memorable sweet 15 minutes walk under the sea.  It is a wonderful feeling.

P1000790

I checked.  Minimum age is 8 years old.  So, Jay Jay, sorry, I guess we have to wait until you are larger a bit then, you can have fun under water.  :)

Singapore Universal Studio

Date:  June 4, 2011

We just came back from Disney Land @ Japan, and the kids love the rides in Japan.  So, our next target is Universal Studios @ Singapore.

IMG_7069.JPG

My in-laws and sister in-law and her kids are in town.  So, we have arranged for them to visit the Universal Studios.  This shall be our first visit too.  I am very sure both Jay & Kay will be very excited too.  Especially when their cousins are in town to play with them.

IMG_7075.JPG

Out of so many attraction zones, I think the more relevant one to the kids should be Madagascar.  As Jay loves the theme song, "I Like to Move it Move it..." and here we are, the great cargo ship hijack by the penguins.  Jay also watch the movie not long ago...

IMG_7078.JPG

The first ride is a boat ride of the Madagascar story.  And it takes about 45min of waiting time.  The weather is hot and humid, and the wait is quite long.  Later, we found out that every ride and every attractions also takes 30min to 1 hour to queue.  So, my recommendation is... Buy the EXPRESS pass... It costs about S$30 (off-peak) or S$48 (peak) more... It's worth it.  Otherwise the whole day you will get stuck under the hot sun.  As we are first timer, by the time we realize it, we already half thru the park.  So, no point upgrading to the express pass.

IMG_5183.JPG

Jay loves to ride the Carousel.  And he has to choose the tallest giraffe...

IMG_7082.jpg

Oh ya... in the park, you do not need to bring your own stroller, there are places for you to rent these two sitter stroller.  We rented one for Jay's cousins...

IMG_5226.JPG

Finally... Kay woke up... And this is the best place to get a nice shot of the castle...

IMG_5231.JPG

There are I guess only 2 roller coaster ride in the Universal studios @ Singapore.  This one is the Enchanted Airways or somethinglike that... and I have decided to take Jay Jay up there, since he loves the roller coaster so much...

IMG_5232.JPG

The Water World show is quite entertaining.  The kids love it.  Lots of water, fire, gun fights, fightings, and funny moments...

IMG_7091.JPG

There are not many ride is suitable for a 4.5 years old kid, so, once you find one, you have to queue for it.  This is the Dinosoarin ride.

IMG_7100.JPG

Even Kay Kay also enjoyed so much about the ride...

IMG_7103.JPG

Here is our last ride of the day... this has much shorter queue, about 15min.

IMG_5259.JPG

Lastly, its Photo time... Jay and the yellow cab...

IMG_5260.JPG

Pretty girl spotted...

IMG_5278.JPG

Oh... its Marilyn...

IMG_5280.JPG

Police car spotted....

IMG_5285.JPG

Nice old car spotted...

IMG_5298.JPG

And there we had fun that day.... at Universal Studios...

IMG_5177.JPG

Conclusions....

1.  They seems to lift up the 3,000 Pax per day entrance quota.  So, seems like you can get the ticket anytime you go...

2.  Please get Express Pass if you really want to try out all the rides and attractions....  More expensive, but more worth it...

3.  The food in there is just OK.  Seems like they are a lot of same food stall selling similar food...

4.  The park is really small, and you can really walk to another theme place very fast...

5.  Well... what can I say, the theme park is really build for the gamblers so that they can have excuses to come to Singapore for the Casino, and they can place their children here for a whole day to queue up for the rides, and the sun will exhaust them fast and then, they can have a very long sleep at night... hahahahaha
