Again, we have the traditional CNY gambling.  And I was the dealer.

This year, We have 46 in the photo.  You will notice that

1) All the kids has grown up.

2) Little Cheryl sits on mommy Angeline’s lap for the third year!

IMG 9179

Another Selfie shot.

IMG 9185

OK.  Gwen was missing from the group photo.  Uncle Rusdi couldn’t find Gwen.  So, we have one photo here for her.  Hahahahaha

IMG 9196

Again, we have two plates of Yu Sheng.

IMG 9128

This year, the way how you get Ang Pao is different.  Uncle Shawn (Major Shawn) is giving instructions and explaining how the kids can get Ang Pao this year.

IMG 9197

Remember!

1)  You must know who is who’s mommy.  And get Ang Pao from her.  (except for uncle Chester stand in for auntie Alicia)

2)  You must know who’s mommy is it.  So, you write down the child name.

3)  You must say some nice Chinese greetings, and mommy have to verify it.  Put a tick here.

4)  Mommy who gave Ang Pao must acknowledge that you have got the Ang Pao...

IMG 9139

Here goes the stressful kids trying to say nice Chinese greetings and walk around to look for Ang Pao givers… ahahaha…  Kids look for mommies to get Ang Pao.

IMG 9150

Stress.  But every one made it… hahahaha

IMG 9182

Something never changed.  It is me again, at the gambling table.  I am the dealer again.

IMG 9186

Happy Chinese New Year 2015!

Huat Ah!

If you look at all the photos for the past 3 years… These are the things that has not changed...

1)  Two plates of Yu Sheng for 3 years.

2)  Uncle Chester is the photographer for 3 years.

3)  Uncle Kenneth is the dealer at the gambling table 3 years in a row.

4)  Either kids or mommy look for each other or queue up for giving Ang Pao or receiving Ang Pao.

5)  Little Cheryl sits on auntie Angeline’s lap for 3 years in a row.  :)

Let’s hope to do this again next year and year after and year after...

CNY 2014 - Remembering The Past

Date:  Feb 4, 2014

Jay’s Grand Father found this from antique shop.

It is very common during the 1950’s.

It run on zero electric city, and it plays music.

Ever since then, we have been buying the old music tapes from the past, from the Taobao, from the Antique shops.

IMG 9121

Boon Ching’s dad can explain and tell the history of the music player … from this to walkman to CD player, to iPod.  Wahaha

IMG 9623

He carefully place the music plate (I don’t even know what to call)

IMG 9625

And he let’s Jay Jay operate the music player.  Yeah!

(Jay, please be careful, it is an antique!)

So, it runs and plays music that is not so clear.  But hey, it is “high tech” back in 1950’s ok?  Wahahaha

Technology evolves.

Soon man create robots.

Robot create Skynet.

Skynet destorys...

Oh well… That is still very far in the future.

Let’s not worry about it.

CNY 2014: Fishing Secrets

Date:  Feb 4, 2014

On the CNY day, we went to Pantai Remis (班台) to visit my wife’s grandma and the rest of the uncles.

IMG 9453

It is a small little fishing town.  (Panchok)

IMG 9466

Lot’s of fishing boat and fishermen stay here.

IMG 9471

One of the uncle also have fish ponds and prawn ponds.  Let’s go there and visit.

IMG 9479

The 7th uncle already prepared a whole bag of prawns for CNY dishes.  Big Thanks!

IMG 9482

The kids enjoying holding the prawns in their hand.

IMG 9490

Let’s see how they fish the prawns up.

IMG 9502

Big prawns plus lots of small shrimps.. baby shrimps.

IMG 9509

The 7th uncle explains to the kids how he protects the shrimp’s brain by using some chemical to clear the algae.  Algae is a friend during day time but it is enemy at night.  Because the algae wants oxygen at night competing with the shrimps, so it is no good.  That is why need to clear as many of them away as possible.

IMG 9514

Runaway prawn.

IMG 9519

Kids love climbing up and down.

IMG 9526

Jay Jay get the chance to grab hold of the prawns net and pull it up.  Yeah!

It is very high tech indeed.  There are CCTV watching.  And the feed goes directly to China via broadband.

This fish pond is a partnership with China company.  The Chinese provides “technology” (or chemicals) and the fish breed and the local partner (7th uncle) provides the fish bed, man power and all the rest of necessary.

IMG 9534

In the old ways, they use chorine to kill the algae.  But Chorine is bad for the heart (prawn’s heart), so now the Chinese invented the way to overcome this.  Suppose to be “cleaner” and more “healthier” way.  Hmmmm….

IMG 9536

This magic powder put in the fish pond, and it will make the algae solidify, and then floats in solid forms.  So, the next day, simply remove the algae chunks and it will reduce the algae by a lot.

And my wife brought back some for her fish aquarium.  Wahahahaha.

Next we visited the fish pond.  He raised two type of fishes here… 龙虎斑 & 龙胆鱼.

"Wow!  I caught a big one!” (smiling & laughing hard)

IMG 9572

Take a look at the video.  Live fish!  The kids love it!

The whole family like this experience on the CNY day.  We going to cook this fish.

IMG 9567

Wow!  Huge Fish.  龙虎斑.

IMG 9581

The kids love it.

IMG 9553

Taking photos with the fish.  Macam like they caught the fish like that.  Wahahaha.

And now, revealing the secret.  Who is the actual one catching the fish.  Wahahaha.

IMG 9546

FISHING SECRETS!

This is how 7th uncle caught the fish.

等下给他钓比较爽!(Wahahahahahahahahaha)

As for me.  7th uncle place the fish on the hook and put it in the pond.  So, when we take picture is as we are the one who fish it.

So, 7th uncle explains, a lot of tourists came to his pond, and then, he will do the same thing for them to “catch" the fish.  All of them love it, because they get to take the fishing photos.  And at the end, all of them buy a lot of fish and prawns back for steaming.  Wahahahaha.

When we go back… we clean up the live prawns ...

IMG 9596

And steam it...

IMG 9599

We cooked 7 pots of steam prawns in 2 days.  That is how much prawns we eaten.

IMG 9610

As for the steam fish, it taste like cod fish, nice!

IMG 9609

That concludes our special event of CNY.  Very nice experience for the kids.

The CNY Sky Lantern 2014

Date:  Feb 3, 2014

On CNY eve, we fly all our sky lantern into the sky.

We did it last year, this year we did it again.

As you turn your head around, you soon find a lot of family also did the same thing.

IMG 9231

We wrote this mainly for the kids, wishing them grow up fast fast.

IMG 9232

Flying the sky lantern is not new to the kids, but they love to do it again and again.

IMG 9238

This year Kay Kay has grown up.  He stayed up until so late to fly the sky lantern.  It is amazing seeing the kids grew.  A years ago, he cannot “tahan” and went to sleep around 11pm.

IMG 9243

Yeah, this is our sky lantern.  Ready to fly.

IMG 9246

And there she goes up up in the sky.

Huat ah!

IMG 9263

See how our sky lantern flies.

Another one.

And another one.

And another one.

We simply enjoys it.

Then, I asked…”Where does all the sky lantern fly to?"

“The candle must be exhausted"

“There shall be no fire then?  Right"

Father inlaw “Of course it will come down to the ground"

Where?

Is it in the jungle?

Is it on the road?

Is it in somebody’s backyard?

… ? ? ?
