Some Tips on Traveling with Kids

Date: Aug 11, 2011

There are some tips I wanted to share.

1. If you have toddler kids, buy this kind of luggage.

So that your toddler can help you to carry the luggage. Buy those that can turn 360 degrees. So that they can turn the luggage, and push it around. You got two kids, then each can have one.

2. Take firefly to Ipoh, then rent car to Cameron Highlands.

Get a window seat (may be loud) for your kids, they love to see air planes. Especially those with propellers. After you reach Ipoh, make sure you have book a tour, or book a car for your use. Driving from Singapore to Ipoh, is about 5 hours plus. But driving up Camera highlands takes about 1.5-2 hours.

Make sure you bring some plastic bags just in case someone vomits.

3. In Cameron highlands, there is always those affordable apartment or holiday house for rent. You can easily find it on the web. Those are apartment owned by people, but they rent it out to some people who we call the hotel management people, who will look after your apartment, and pay you rent, and help clean your place so that they can rent out to people who came here for holidays. Usually, it is a three or two bed room apartments.

Usually it is clean. But one always, please bring your own bed sheet, pillow cover, and bath towels. The condition of Cameron highlands is always humid. Therefore, the bedsheets offered is always a bit damp, because of the bed.

Well, hotel usually is the same. And is much more higher price. Staying in apartment is nice, as you got kitchen area.

That's it!

Tag: Visit Malaysia, Cameron Highlands, Kids Holiday

If you stay in Brinchang Cameron Highlands, there are these two good place to eat. I found the food is nice and cheap.

This Wai Yat Restaurant serve very good steamboat.

And guess what is under the table.

They still use gas tank.

We ordered a four person portion, and felt it is a bit too much...

And the veggies are big fat and fresh. This is called 鸳鸯菜.

See, front is green, and back is purple. Quite tasty.

Look, this is 田七. Also very nice. This is the first time I tried this, suppose to give good boost to blood circulations.

The food is nice.

The other restaurant that is nice is this Yeong Wah.

You must try the yam braised pork.

The Patin fish is fresh and nicely done.

The soup is good too!

And lastly, the 龙须菜. Crunchy.

It's is from this veggie...

So, for both restaurant, we spent about RM60-70 for 4 adults and 2 kids, and we also order drinks and some noodles too. Worth the money.

Unfolding the Butterflies

Date: Aug 11, 2011
Tag: Visit Malaysia, Cameron Highlands, Kids Holiday

I have visited so many butterfly Parks before, and never have such blown your mind off experience. Of course, it depends a lot on your luck too.

This is the place. From outside, it looks like every other butterfly farm.

And the tickets are not impressive at all. RM5 for adults and RM2 for kids.

Hey! Look! What is that guy doing there? I am not talking about this pretty butterfly.

Huh? A new shipment of butterflies? And all of them comes folded in a paper bag folded in a triangular shape.

Let's unfold the paper bag.

Oh, it's a butterfly in it.

As soon as you unfold the butterfly, it flaps it's wings, and trying to learn how to fly...

This is amazing...

Does this blow your mind off? When you see so many butterflies. Kind of creepy, but it's fun when you see the man unfolding the butterflies, one by one. So this is how they resupply the butterflies.

So many butterflies.... So beautiful...

Jay Jay even picked up a butterfly from the leaf. So brave.

He is so proud of himself.

There are so many species...

Yellow one...

Blue one...

Even Kay Kay wanted to take some photo with the camera.

I like this orange one... Sitting on a red flower...

It's amazing, Kay said.

It's all over me head... Duck....

More butterflies...

This butterfly farm is done pretty impressive. They also have a huge collections of strange insects and snakes.

I think this RM5 is worth all the money!

Fantastic Photographer

Meet the fantastic photographer. A gardener who came from Bangladesh and has been working here for 10 years.

After we visited BOH Sungai Palas Tea Plantation, at the midway there is a junction leads to Highlands Straberries which is 1.8KM away. It was a tough inclined road, especially the 90 degrees turning into the car park. The road was so narrow.

Jay wanted to pick strawberries, and here we came to this strawberries park on top of the tea plantations.

The guy on the left welcome come us and introduced himself as the Camera Man. A guy who has special ability in taking photos? But after we seen his work, we were like jaw drop and speechless... See for yourself.

He used one hand to hold the strawberry and the other hand firmly hold the camera, and guided us how we should place our hands and fingers... Look at my big strawberry.

Look! Me and my wife each has one huge strawberry.

Look mommy, I picked up a big one...

Aiya... Our strawberry is loosen....

Jay! Don't throw the strawberry.

Grandpa and grandma also got one...

Ah ma and ah gong, got two in their hands.

So sweet.

This is the place. New place.

Jay loves to pick strawberries.

Not too bad. 1KG for RM35.

Here got another...

Even Kay Kay also have one.

A lots of veggies...

Look at the tomatoes.

A lot of radish too.

There are some animals such as chicken, duck, goose, rabbits, etc.

I am guessing this place quite rare getting visitors because it is situated at very high hills. We are glad to be there and met with the most talented photographers from Bangladesh. Indeed.
