Spooking Buddha Painting

Date:  Sep 14, 2014

I was accompanying my friend for hand crafts shopping in Jakarta, and we found this shop selling this buddha 3D painting.

It is spooky indeed.  Scary.

Anyway, if you want to shop for wooden handcrafts or souvenir in Jakarta, these are the two locations I recommend.

1.  Kemang Area

Just tell the taxi driver you want to go to the Kemang area that has lots of wooden furnitures and handy crafts.

It is a street where they have lots of small furnitures stores and most of them are wooden crafts.

And you can bargain for the price.  And it is cheap.  For example, I saw something I like.  And it is 250,000Rp here.

2.  Pasaraya Blok M

On the 5th floor in this mall, the entire floor (huge and big) are selling wooden, silver, handicrafts from all over Indonesia.  Almost every thing you can think of.

I saw the exact same thing a solitaire chess with marble stones here too.  The same set selling for 475,000Rp here.  Which earlier, I should have bought it at Kemang Area.

HaHaHa… You know when these handicrafts go into the mall, it is always double or even triple the price.  I was trying to negotiate to buy that set from the Kemang store for 200,000Rp, but the store keeper won’t want to sell me.  The listed price is already 350,000Rp back then.  HaHa

Here is the place.  Easy to find.

Portable Badminton Net for Kids

Date:  March 17, 2014

Sometimes when you want to play badminton, and you can’t book a court right away.  Then, how?

But most of the times you know that the badminton court must be booked 2 weeks in advance or 1 month in advance than got space.

If you go down stairs and play, there is no NET.  So, how?

Look at what I bought from Taobao this time.

The Portable Badminton Net.

IMG 1723

Yup!  You can build a net from this kid.  This compartment also big enough to place in two badminton racquets.

IMG 1724

Within 2-3 minutes you can easily assemble the badminton net.

IMG 1726

The two yellow stick is extendible.  And simply lock it in both side.

IMG 1727

Press to unlock and adjust the height of the stick.

IMG 1730

Easily slot in the net.  And that’s it!

IMG 1731

It is portable.  And it is about 3KG to 4KG light that nia.  Yes, that light.

IMG 1733

I bought it from Taobao.  And I did not see this sort of things in Singapore.

It is on promotion, so, RMB198.  That is roughly about S$40.

OK.  Let’s use it now and see if it is good.

IMG 1736

Quite Cool.  We played badminton for almost 1 hour.  And this net is GOOD.

Playing downstairs is different with the net now.

Any time I want to play with Jay Jay and give him drills, then, simply bring down the net with me.

I love this product!  COOL!

Bangkok Boat Service

Date: Oct 30, 2013

I don't like the traffic jam in Bangkok.

I don't like the hotel venue of Capacity Asia. It's beside the Chao Phraya river, but it is also in a location that is not near to every thing, like MRT/BTS station, shopping centers, etc.

Every time you need to go somewhere, you will be sure to stuck in the jam for a long while.

This trip, I learned to take the Chao Phraya Express boat service.

It is cheap and very convenient. It is fast and only cost 15 Baht nia.

This is the boat with orange flag. This is the boat we are taking.

Actually 15Baht is not cheap comparing BTS fare. But it is fast and convenient.

A conductor will sell you tickets like this.

So when you reach a stop, the guy will whistle a few time and the boat will bump to the side and passenger can be alighted.

You can stand there if you want but hmmm... A bit dangerous considering the water is high right and a bit rush today.

We waited for the boat for 10min, and the ride takes about 6-7min for 2 stops. And we arrived at Sathorn Pier. The BTS station is just directly above this sign.

Then you take the BTS to any where you like.

This boat ride appears to be very popular to both Thai and tourists.

So next time don't forget to consider this if you are really rushing for time and need to go somewhere without traffic jam.

Try it next time when you are in Bangkok.

A Plastic Bag Kite

Date:  April 26, 2013

What can a plastic bag do with kids having fun?

Well, a small little plastic bag + a wooden chopstick + a wool string + a piece of color paper (as the tail) = plastic kite

IMG 1001

Kay Kay loves his kite.  And he play with this kite by running very fast and let it fly.

Visit the Intrepid

Date:  Mar 23, 2013

Last Saturday, we went on board the Navy's frigate ship - Intrepid.  Its fun and it is a preview of what army life could be.

DSC02318

Kay Kay says "I want to go on to this ship!"

DSC02309

It is a frigate (whatever it means)… It's an army ship!

DSC02312

It's called "Intrepid".

DSC02320

Jay Jay is always everyone's favourite.  Let's ring the bell!

DSC02327

Kay Kay says: "My koko has super power, he can fly!"

DSC02334

It's the Seahawk!

DSC02333

There is a gym room on board the ship.  When they go to non-aggressive place, then, the topedo room will be converted into a gym.

DSC02341

This is where they store the speed boat.

DSC02344

Why so many stairs and ladder one...

DSC02349

Jay Jay: "This is the captain speaking."

DSC02354

This is the officer quarters.

DSC02365

Wow, very neat.  Got private toilet too.

DSC02367

Just a normal out of sea mission, only 3 crew can handle the entire ship.  But when it is fully loaded, you can have so many people.

DSC02374

They really need a lot of caffeine.

DSC02375

The plaque.

DSC02376

Wow, they also use this Singapore product.  Ebiq.

DSC02377

Wow, laundry room.

DSC02381

But it is the officer one.

DSC02382

Some control room.

DSC02384

Kitchen.

DSC02386

So if you have craving for coke.  You got to pay those.

DSC02388

Logo.

DSC02390

Wishing card.

DSC02393

Why there is this here… in the kitchen.

DSC02394

This is the coxwine, the ship pilot.

DSC02400

That's it for the tour.

DSC02408

Let's go sit train.
