LEGO Without Instruction Manual

Date:  Jan 4, 2012

Jay Jay has been building his Lego trucks, cars, rockets, boats by following the instructions manual that comes with the LEGO City box.  We are very please to see him so dedicated, and so focus in building the LEGO toys.  It is a very good toy to make him focus.  As we know our son well, he usually cannot focus either in class of at home.  But when he played the Lego set, he is focus.

So, as part of his training, I started to buy blocks instead of the themed Lego box set for him.  So, you can buy all kinds of blocks, as well as some special Lego pieces such as traffic lights, lamp post, flag, etc etc.  So, he is now learning how to use his own creativity to build houses.  Houses with windows, doors, balcony, etc.

This is what he build.  A simple house with yellow walls, a door and a window.  On top, you have the roof top balcony.  And there is a traffic light to direct the traffic.  And you see that little yellow "handle", Jay said that he can bring the house to go anywhere by this handle.  OK.  This is a great house build by a 5 year old imaginations.

So, before he build the proper house, he was building all sort of weird shape house.  So, I have to explain to him why we cannot build such a house, as nobody will buy the house and stay if it is odd shape.  So, he is slowly learning.

Of course, you have to build a SAMPLE HOUSE for him to see too.  A house that has lots of windows, doors and a roof top.  See that buggy?  I love that yellow buggy.  I bought it at $5.90.  Cheap.  Much cheaper than the LEGO figures.

After he saw the SAMPLE HOUSE, he got his own idea and build that square simple house.  Which I think it is good for a 5 year old kid.  My house looks cool is it not?

Btw, I bought all my Legos from ToysHunt - LEGO Specialty Store at Great World City.  As this store has the Lego Drawers that sell all sort of small LEGO parts.  The normal square or rectangle blocks is 9c per gram.  They also sell Windows and Doors.  Some are more expensive.  But depends on your need, and depends on your imagination, you can build a lot a lot of things out from the LEGO blocks you have bought.
