Today is the first time I tasted Amy Yip Pao.
Most of the youngster may not know who is Amy Yip (葉子楣). She is one of the famous actresses during the 1980’s. Why they named the Pau after her name, just google her name, or Amy Yip Pau then, you will know. hahahaha.
This traditional handmade Pau from JB. There is a branch here in Singapore.
The shop is actually located at the shopping mall on 587 Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore. The shop is just at the corner there along Coronation Rd. Opposite Penang Kitchen restaurant.
OK. Let’s look at the pau. This is it.
How big? Almost my palm size. Hmm… I saw the photos from Google, should it be more bigger?
Surprisingly the skin is NOT thick at all. Quite nice.
The skin tasted quite nice too.
There are lap cheong (Chinese Sausage), meat, egg, mushrooms, onions, veggies in the Amy Yip Pau.
It tastes very nice. It is probably one of the nicest pau I had in Singapore. Even the one from Red Star restaurant cannot beat the taste.
But I think good food also comes with good ingredients. I think as usual, to make the food nice, you may need to put lots of MSG in it. But it taste very good!
Go try it!
