It seems like a tradition now to host a Foon Yew High School reunion party every 1st saturday of the month. This month, we have new "students" as well as teacher.
Ling Sze Hoong (First on the left behind row), Mr. Ang Lai Chiang (3rd from the right behind row) & Angie Ng (2nd from the right behind row).
OK. Let's show hand our food first.
Cook with Ken section
Fiann does not eat beef, so to be fair for her, I found this fish from Tiong Bahru. It's call a Mirror Fish, and it is a sea fish.
So, to steam it, I placed a layer of bacons underneath the fish, covered with tomato, ginger, garlics and green onions. I actually forgot to put tofu. Then, 1-2 spoonful of sesami oil, soya sauce, cooking oil and Chinese cooking wine.
Steam for 25 minutes (big fish).
We have the home cooked 白斩鸡. Start with a pot of cold water. Put the whole chicken inside, add few slices of ginger and some cut green onions. Start heating up the pot with Chicken in the cold water. When the pot get boiled (after 10-15 minutes), shutdown the fire, cover the pot, and let the chicken simmers inside the boiled water for another 15-25 minutes (depends on how much blood you want to see inside the chicken). Take the chicken out, and then spread it with sea salt, and Shao Xing Cooking Wine. Let it cool down for 20 minutes.
After you cut it, there you go... 白斩鸡!
For the kids, I specially cooked the Pork Leg Fried Bee Hoon. I used 太山米粉. Soak in water for 30 minutes. Dice onions, garlic. Soak some dried shrimp too with hot water. Heat the wok with cooking oil, put in onion and garlic as well as the dried shrimp (remove water), put in the bee hoon, add dark soya sauce for coloring. And then, keep stir fry the bee hoon. Open the Prok Leg can food, I used 4 cans, add in. Add some water if needed, and then, keep stir fry it. Then, cover it, let it simmer, let the been hoon suck up all the water. And then stir fry some more. Done! On a separate wok, cook some egg, and put on top. I think that night, all the kids love this dish. As well as the big kids.
One of the friend specially requested steak. So, I cooked three steaks yesterday.
It was 300 days grain fed ribeye, as well as MBS 6 Aus Wagyu beef.
We also have white wine lemon clams.
My wife specially prepared for Mr. Ang, the healthy Himalayan's bean salad. This dish has been cooked for more than few hours.
Of course, we have Song Fatt Bak Kut Teh, hiding inside this big pot. My wife cooked this too. Also few hours simmer in the pot.
I think the food should be OK for the night. Because is home cook, so, the dish can get cold easily. Next time, I got to find ways to warm it up.
Oh, and the wine.
The red wine pairing with the steak.

Most of the attendees brought along their DSLR.
So, why you think we have roses here?
Those who already master the skill, can laid back and sit on the sofa.
Our instructor is explaining where does the light come from, and how to take a good photo, etc.
After each student taken the shot, it is projected onto the TV. Instructor Daniel will give a few tips. don't play play.. we are very professional.
All these efforts is to take a good photo of this pot of rose.
And we are very serious about it!
Let's try it!

Fiann learned a lot. I got a funny feeling that our next gathering may be at the Botanical garden, where every one take their DSLR, taking photos of the birds, flowers, water falls, and so on.
Hon-to-ni? Botanical Garden desu-ka?
We all have lots of fun yesterday. The time is 1AM plus and all seems still there. So, we have to break a glass to call of the day. hahahaha
