Arriving Tokyo - Trip to Shibuya and Shinjuku

Date: May 15, 2011

We left Hokone early in the morning, and it only takes 35 min to reach Shinagawa on Shinkansen.

Shinagawa is the major train station south of Tokyo. This is where our cheap hotel located.

Along the way within the JR station, you can see our two famous people news. They finally wanted to step down...

This is the hotel offered by JTB. It is free for 2 night stay (bundled in the $148 per pax ticket), additional night cost about $49.

From outside, it looks like this. And on Apr 29, it just changed hand and renamed the hotel to Shinagawa Goos. Very decent hotel, and it is just opposite the JR station.

The room is quite decent too. Very standard, and the toilet is big too.

And there is a Singapore food republic. Nope, we are not having Singapore food in Tokyo, I said to Jay.

Once, we settled down, we quickly took a train from Yamanote line to Shibuya and Shinjuku. We visited Yodabashi, very small compared to the Fukuoka one. And it is very tight and narrow within the Yodabashi. We also visited Tokyu departmental store, a lot of floors, but also, very tight and narrow. It is not good for the baby stroller.

When we wanted to find food on Shinjuku, that was about 1pm during Sunday, and it is almost impossible to find any decent restaurant that has decent space, less crowd, and space to park our baby stroller, etc.

We finally end up eating at this ramen store, also, very tight and narrow inside. And no baby chair. We survived out afternoon at Shibuya and Shinjuku.

Well, if you ask me whether I will recommend parents with young infant and toddler to bring their children to Shibuya or Shinjuku? I will say no no.

People are almost every where, lots of people.

And if you try to push the baby stroller into the subway or train, which is jammed pack, i think unlike, Hokkaido, Kyoto or Fukuoka, Tokyo shopping district is like a No No for children to visit. They are too young to understand what is shopping all about accept for toys...
